Prizes: (sponsored by Bengalla Mining Company)
Secondary School Category – $5,000
Open Category – $10,000
The annual short film competition received over 160 entries between the two categories, providing 9.5 hours of film footage for the three local judges to review. Operations Director at Muswellbrook cinema Ron Healey and Ryan Langford from the Muswellbrook Amateur Theatrical Society (MATS) are guests on this years judging panel.
“The overall quality of the selected films in this festival has been of an incredible standard on so many levels,” says Mr Healey.
“The Blue Heeler Film Festival is one of the important events that can keep the arts alive in the region,” says Mr Langford.
This year filmmakers had to overcome the many challenges of filming through a global pandemic. We have seen an increase in animated films and stories featuring only a single character. Filmmakers have shown resilience by continuing to create through this period.
