Short film ‘EVIE’ has its online premiere on the selective Youtube channel OMELETO, home of the worlds best short films.
Set in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia the film is a suspenseful ride that leads up to a climactic showdown between Evie and a vengeful dinosaur. At its heart, it’s a coming of age story about a father trusting that he’s taught his daughter everything she needs to know about the world as she heads out on her own.
The films festival journey highlights included premiering at SITGES International Film Festival – the best genre festival in the world, with a feature by Phill Tippett, the person responsible for the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, and then premiering in Australia at FLICKERFEST. Other highlights include a department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Screening for the 70th Anniversary of Thai Australia Relations and being a finalist in the Film Pipeline Short Film Prize, the first Australian film to do so.
The film was shot by Meredith Lindsay with visual effects lead by Ben Wotton and music by Dmitri Golovko. The costume design was by Texx Montana and hair and makeup design by Kate Anderson. It stars Melody Rom (THE HEIGHTS), Ben Mortley (HOW TO PLEASE A WOMAN, ITCH, THE GATEWAY), Paul Montague (THREE SUMMERS, HENRY & AARON, SUPER DINGO) and Leon Ewing in his first foray into film.
